Benissa - Benissa is a municipality Within the province of Alicante . Along icts 4km coastline Between the towns of Moraira and Calp you can find Many small bays : such as La Fustera & La cala de Advocat ( sandy ) and El Pinets , The Lobella , Baladrar & The Basetes with a small marina . In the town of Benissa you can walk through narrow cobbled streets and enjoy Hundreds of years of history and historic buildings .

The History of Benissa - Benissa The name dates back to before the expulsion of the Moors in 1609, an Arabic name ( Banu - Issa ) meaning Issas children . Even now ; many of Benissas streets and areas still hold Arabic names . Settlers That Were Followed the Moriscos from the Pyrenees , Catalonia and Aragon. You can find the Town Hall in the Plaza del Portal. The building was Constructed in the year 1790 as a hospital order in 1981 the building underwent full restoration and reopened as the Town Hall.

The church we see today Pursima Xiqueta Iglesia Parochial WAS built in the 20s thanks to several private donations, the building is a neo -gothic style with three naves . Antigua Sala del Consejo gold old council room in Huadu Calle Mayor WAS built at the end of the 16th century , this building was used for a council meeting and également commercial use for selling wheat and almonds from the local farms . Fiestas in Benissa

Moors and Christians Festivities are Celebrated at the end of June in honor of Saint Peter . You can watch processions of magnificent parades through the streets of Benissa.

Fira de Sant Antoni are Celebrated on the 2nd fortnight in January . Animal blessings , medieval market , fair attractions, fair stock , and a variety of cultural and sport activities take up falling on three weeks .
